Remember

Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land.
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more, day by day,
You tell me of our future that you planned,
Only remember me, you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve,
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

Carnival

He looked at her and lost in musing, everything about her is changed except her smile. Last time when they met at carnival, she was 9 and he was 11. It was a fun memory. She was annoyingly mischievous and tease him with the name “Roly-poly”

After all these years, now she become more mature and calm. Their parents want them to get married. He always liked her but unsure about her feelings. When he asked her whether she said “yes” under parental pressure. She smiled shyly and said looking into his eyes, “No roly-poly, I suggested your name to them.”

Shopping

“When you said, let’s go to the shopping, I had imagined something different. Usually people go to mall and shop for clothes and shoes.” She said

“Aww… I am so sorry dear, I should have clarified myself earlier. But I am sure you will like something here. May be you will find anything for Halloween” He said

“It’s all old and boring.”

“how about this?”

“It is okay but I like this one.”

“Oh! it’s scary.. but it’s price is more scary. You were right this place is boring. Let’s go to the mall and buy a pretty dress for you.”

Paper Boats

Day by day I float my paper boats one by one down the running stream.
In big black letters I write my name on them and the name of the village where I live.
I hope that someone in some strange land will find them and know who I am.
I load my little boats with shiuli flowers from our garden, and hope that these blooms of the dawn will be carried safely to land in the night.
I launch my paper boats and look up into the sky and see the little clouds setting their white bulging sails.
I know not what playmate of mine in the sky sends them down the air to race with my boats.
When night comes I bury my face in my arms and dream that my paper boats float on and on under the midnight stars.
The fairies of sleep are sailing in them, and the lading is their baskets full of dreams.

It’s a famous poem written by Rabindranath Tagore. This poem is simple and easy to understand but it’s so effective. When I read it first time, all the childhood memories came back to me.
